Louis Brandsma features the wildlife and landscapes of southwest Alberta in his most recent art exhibition at the Nature Centre.

Brandsma is a self-taught nature artist who was born and raised in southern Alberta. He grew up on a farm, where he learned to love and appreciate the wildlife around him. He began drawing at a young age and started painting as a teenager. As his work progressed, he became inspired by the works of the Dutch masters Van Ruisdael and Hobbema. He has also been inspired by wildlife artists Robert Bateman and Daniel Smith.

Louis currently resides on an acreage near Lethbridge, Alberta with his wife Cindy, near their children and grandchildren.
