Celebrate nature & play this holiday season!

Two new interactive exhibitions - plus indoor and outdoor activities - make the Nature Centre the perfect destination for family and friends.

Lethbridge, AB – Just in time for the holiday season, the Helen Schuler Nature Centre invites residents and visitors to experience two exciting exhibitions. Winter Wild Neighbours and The Power of Play are designed to spark curiosity, encourage connection and provide fun learning opportunities.

Winter Wild Neighbours welcomes visitors to step into a world of natural wonder. Meet the wildlife that share our cities, parks, and backyards. This immersive exhibit brings nature indoors with captivating displays, fascinating facts and interactive activities. Uncover surprising mysteries about the creatures living just outside your door, learn how local animals thrive in southern Alberta during the coldest months, and explore simple ways you can help support wildlife throughout the winter.

The Power of Play celebrates the importance of play for all ages. It offers hands-on activities that inspire creativity and imagination. Jump in and explore stations packed with fresh ideas and rediscover the power of play—because it’s not just for kids, it’s for everyone!

“The holiday season is all about spending time together, and these two exhibitions offer the perfect way to do that,” says Jessica Deacon-Rogers, Education Programming Coordinator at the Helen Schuler Nature Centre. “Whether you’re exploring indoors or outdoors, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. We’re excited to provide a space where families and friends can connect with nature and each other.”

And the Nature Centre experience doesn’t stop there! Visitors can enjoy stay-and-play opportunities throughout the holidays:

 •  Indoor Activities: From December 23, 2025, to January 3, 2026, drop into the Community Room for Busy Builders and Playstations Unplugged. It’s perfect for families looking to relax, create and make lasting memories together! Build, design and explore at a variety of stations that promote innovation and teamwork. Discover the magic of loose parts play, where everyday items transform into endless possibilities.

 •  Outdoor Adventures: Get your dose of Vitamin D while soaking up some Vitamin N (that stands for Nature, of course!) on the trails. Engaging displays along Nature Quest trail encourage socializing, learning and breathing in fresh winter air. Bundle up, bring a friend and make the most of the season—because nature is the best playground!

Whether you’re seeking a cozy indoor escape or an exciting outdoor experience, the Helen Schuler Nature Centre has something for everyone this holiday season. The exhibitions are available Tuesday to Sunday, from 1p.m. – 4 p.m., throughout the winter.
