  • Main Exhibit Gallery - this dynamic and interactive space features a new display every six months!

  • Nature Quest Trail - take a stroll on this self-guided interpretive trail's short loop (350m), medium loop (650m), and long loop (1km)!

  • Family Field Trip - book a Field Trip in advance and join one of our education staff & discover the amazing plants & animals found right here in Lethbridge on a private one-hour tour of the Nature Reserve Park!

  • Geocaching - discover the hidden treasure of the river valley! Borrow a GPS unit and see if you can find them all (there are hundreds of geocaches around Lethbridge)!

  • Adventure Gear - borrow adventure gear and get outside to explore the Nature Reserve Park!

The Helen Schuler Nature Centre is the perfect destination for a date! You may be interested in:

  • Community Art Gallery - this dynamic gallery features new exhibits every 8 weeks.

  • Living Roof - bring a coffee or tea and enjoy the view! This quiet spot is perfect for a photo!!

  • Sweet Spots & Spectacular Shots - pick up a selfie brochure (and selfie-stick if you need one) from the front desk, then take a stroll for some iconic river valley photos!

  • Bird Watching - pick up a copy of the Birds of the Lethbridge Forests Field Guide then go outside to see if you can identify some of the birds in our cottonwood forest! Borrow a pair of binoculars to enhance your birding!!

  • Outdoor Adventure Activities - plan your visit to coincide with an Outdoor Adventure Activity on the trails - these offer a great opportunity to get to know each other while learning something new about our river valley!

  • Exhibitions - the Nature Centre has a robust exhibition program to explore.

  • LEED Facility - if you love architecture and sustainable buildings, then you will love exploring our facility! Enjoy the view from the Prairie Living Roof - a great spot for a photo!!

  • Family and Adult Field Trips - book a group tour in advance and join one of our education staff on a private one-hour tour of the Nature Reserve Park!

  • High Level Bridge - this iconic bridge is the tallest and longest of its kind in the world! Head upstairs onto the Nature Centre's Living Roof for one of the best photo backdrops in Lethbridge!

  • On-site Naturalists - connect with our team of naturalists for the inside scoop on recent sightings, favourite trails, and points of interest! We are always happy to share our local perspective!!

School Groups

Planning a school field trip to the Helen Schuler Nature Centre? Make the most of your time in the river valley by extending your river valley experience!

  • Book a Field Trip - we offer science curriculum-based fieldtrips led by interpreters that know our site better than anyone! Several seasonal program topics are available to support multiple visits per year.

  • Plan a Picnic - there are so many nearby picnic areas that are a short walk from the Centre. Indian Battle Park (book Baroness Picnic Shelter), Little Fort Playground (small pod area).

  • Go for a Treasure Hunt - discover the hidden treasure of the river valley! Borrow a GPS unit and see if you can find them all (there are hundreds of geocaches around Lethbridge)!

  • Self-Guided Activities - make the most of our three self-guided interpretive trails and/or make advance arrangements to borrow one of our many available resources (like Scavenger Hunts).

  • Visit another site - make the most of your day by exploring another curriculum-linked field trip destination in Lethbridge like the Galt Museum, Fort Whoop-Up, SAAG, or Nikka Yukko.
