Hark, noble guardians of our realm!

Four conservation challenges await you from April to July, with badges and the spoils of victory (prizes) to be earned!

Lethbridge Verdant Quest is an individual or team challenge that runs from April to July, with 4 badges available to be earned for completing challenge components.

All participants will receive a digital certificate to celebrate their accomplishments, as well as a chance to earn fantastic prizes.

Those brave heroes who complete ALL 4 challenges, will also receive a limited-edition sticker and a chance to win this year's grand prize; a stainless steel trash picker engraved with your name (or an alias/Adventurer name of your choosing)!

The four challenge badges available are:

🌿Commons Keeper

Lethbridge’s tranquil parks and wild river valley need a hero to eliminate the litter that has accumulated since last year!

Earn this badge with ANY of the following:

  • Participate in the Coulee Clean-up Launch event

    • Wednesday April 22nd, 2026 | 10am-Noon meet at Baroness Picnic Shelter

  • Participate in the Earth Day Park Clean-up at Legacy Park

    • Saturday April 25th, 2026 | 10am-2pm

  • Participate in a Coulee Clean-up Event before July 26th, 2026

  • Participate/Organize a Neighbourhood Clean-up before July 26th, 2026

💩The Vanquisher

Purge the land of the beast's foul harvest! Remove invasive plants that threaten our realm and vanquish the canine droppings that pollute our waterways. The balance of nature depends on you!

Earn this badge with ANY of the following:

  • Participate in a Doggy Doo Doo Crew event (full details here)

    • Thursday May 7 @ 6pm: Scenic Drive Dog Run (1107 6 Street South)

    • Thursday May 14 @ 6pm: Popson Park Off Leash Area (Entrance from 10 Street South)

    • Thursday May 21 @ 6pm: Peenaquim Park Off Leash Area (Entrance from Stafford Drive North or Scenic Drive North)   

    • Thursday May 28 @ 6pm: Park ‘n’ Bark (Located at the corner of Stafford Drive North and Scenic Drive North)

  • Participate in a Russian Olive or Invasive Weed removal event (this activity is for participants aged 18 and older, or 16 and older with a parent or guardian):

    • Wednesday May 20th @ 6pm - Russian Olive Removal (Location TBD - email chelsea.sherbut@lethbridge.ca to sign up)

    • Wednesday July 7th @ 6pm - Invasive Weed Removal (Location TBD - email chelsea.sherbut@lethbridge.ca to sign up)

  • Submit an Invasive Plant species sighting in the river valley via the EDDMaps app or iNaturalist and then use the evidence submission form to to let us know!

💧Shorekeeper

Restore the magic of our enchanted shores! Collect debris, paint a yellow fish, or guard the storm drains to protect our waterways from harm.

Earn this badge with ANY of the following:

🚬 Buttsbane

Banish the remnants of the smoldering scourge! Gather the discarded cigarette butts that mar our pristine landscapes, and then bring forth your collection to the designated drop-off locations.

Cigarette butts are the most littered item on earth, and that goes for Lethbridge too. Click here to learn more about the harmful effects of cigarette butts on the environment.

To earn this badge, collect cigarette butts from around Lethbridge, including the river valley and then take a picture of your haul and submit it before bagging it up and throwing it away in a City of Lethbridge garbage bin (public, or your residential black bin).

The Nature Centre also has a limited supply of pocket ashtrays for those citizens resolving to pocket their butts!
