Wildlife Concerns

Is there an issue with wild animals, nuisance insects or bees on city property?

Dangerous Wildlife

  • Animals such as bears, moose, cougars, and coyotes can become dangerous.

    • In an emergency situation where there is immediate danger, call 9-1-1.

    • For non-emergency situations involving bears, moose, and cougars, call Alberta Fish & Wildlife 403-381-5266

    • For non-emergency situations involving coyotes, call 3-1-1.

Bee Swarms

  • If you see a swarm of honey bees, stay calm and call the response line 403-393-2058.

Livestock within city limits

  • To report livestock on the loose, call the Lethbridge Police Service non-emergency line at 403-328-4444

Nuisance wildlife

  • For wild animals or nuisance insects (including mice, ground squirrels, and insects) on private property, we encourage you to contact a local pest control company to help with the issue you are experiencing.

Domestic animals (cats & dogs)

  • Concerns or information about domestic animals (cats, or dogs) can be found on the Animal Shelter web page, or you can give them a call at 403-320-4099.

  • If you suspect animal neglect or abuse, call Alberta SPCA at 1-800-455-9003.
